This is an account of my days and ways, of my life here in Edmonton.

Like sand through the hour glass...

...so go the days of our lives.

All right, what's been going on?

The guy who robbed me is having his first pleading (I think?) tomorrow. I don't know how I feel. I don't want him to suffer, actually, but I don't want him to just walk away either. He's obviously someone who needs to change his life -- unfortunately, the criminal justice system has no interest in helping him to do that.

Perhaps I'm wrong. Who knows?

I am supposed to fill in a victim impact statement, to be unsealed in the event that he is convicted, to give the judge guidance in how to sentence the guy. I don't really know what I'm going to say.

I'm applying to a job via APIRG, a part time position that will hopefully fill in some of the empty space provided by statscan.

I'm actually concerned that statscan will be letting me go in the next month or two.

A fellow bookfair planner and I will be looking at a new space for next year's bookfair. I think that it's a better space, but is it large enough?

I've been robbed!!!!

I was robbed at midnight tonight, on the LRT of all places! By some guy waving a giant vodka bottle. I feel so ridiculous -- maybe I should have put up more of a fight, but I was virtually the only other person there, aside from a young woman and some other guy who was studiously ignoring the whole incident. The guy then tried to threaten me after we got to the station, and was too drunk to run. I wound up calling the cops, and he was caught, but the bugger ditched my money. Fortunately, he didn't get my wallet, or other funds that I had stashed elsewhere.

I feel a tremendous sense of embarassment that I didn't fight him, but I am also glad that, well, I didn't have a big glass bottle smashed in my face, and that I didn't wind up getting into a brawl with some drunk guy who was feeling no pain. Also, I only lost $27.

Fucker! I think it's the only word appropriate.

Once more unto the breach, dear fiends!

Ach mensch, what a day. Up early in the morning for work at 8am, haggling with unhappy old farmers all day, then walking back across the High Level home. Then a nap.... Slept longer than I thought, didn't get what I wanted done.

On the other hand, I was able to meet with my friend Kirsten today, which I haven't really done for some time. Her significant other dropped by shortly after. We had an interesting chat about a number of different things, though there was something that I really meant to talk about and forgot about. It was all good, though I am too tired to go into much detail, maybe I'll find time tomorrow. Ran a bit later than I expected, though.

And so it begins...

Well, here's my first post.

Basically, I'm an anarchocommunist and a broken down classical humanist, living right in the heart of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I belong to that excellent organ of working class solidarity, the IWW, or Industrial Workers of the World. I am a bibliophile who seldom has time to read. I have an affable and amorous nature, but am also a loner. I am sounding more and more trite each passing second.

Seriously, I've tried keeping a diary, but kept falling off the wagon. With a blog I'll force myself to write and reflect.

Perhaps I'll have more to write later.
